After a decade in show business, Wilbert Ross is hitting a new high.

Fresh from the success of the "University Series" on Viva One and a string of music releases, the singer-actor is set to headline “WRten By,” a two-night concert happening on July 25 and 26 at the New Frontier Theater. 

Wilbert admits the achievement is something he once dreamed about.

“Actually, yes, kasi siyempre lahat naman tayo nangarap,” he shared. “Pero inaamin ko, overwhelmed pa rin ako sa lahat ng blessings na dumarating. Sobrang thankful lang ako talaga.”

Asked whether his success was a product of hard work or destiny, Wilbert said it was a combination of both.

“Siguro 50-50. Kasi siyempre, hindi mo naman mararating ang mga pangarap mo kung hindi mo pinagtrabahuan, pinaghandaan,” he said. “Taon ang binilang ko pero tuloy-tuloy lang talaga ako. Hinanda ko lang ang sarili ko by doing my best in everything para kung sakaling dumating yung break, handa ka.”

“At saka siguro timing na rin. In God’s time talaga. Hindi mo makakamit ang pinapangarap mo kung hindi rin ukol talaga. Sa Kanya naman lahat nanggagaling ang lahat na ito.”

Despite the milestones, Wilbert believes he is only getting started.

“More songs, more music, more movies,” he said when asked about his remaining dreams. “Ang dami ko pang gustong gawin sa totoo lang. Feeling ko nga parang nag-uumpisa pa lang ako so, sana magtuloy-tuloy lang talaga.”

Wilbert first entered the entertainment industry in 2016 as a contestant on "Tawag Ng Tanghalan" and "Pinoy Boyband Superstar." The Davao del Sur native later gained wider recognition as part of the Hashtags.

His career gained further momentum after signing with Viva in 2020. Under the agency, Wilbert landed his breakout role as Arkin Sanchez in Viva One’s "University Series" and later starred opposite Bea Binene in “Golden Scenery of Tomorrow.”

The pair eventually became known to fans as the “WilBea” love team, earning praise for their chemistry both onscreen and during live appearances.

Wilbert expressed gratitude to Bea for supporting his music and creative ideas.

“Gusto ko rin talaga pasalamatan si Bea sa lahat ng support niya,” he said. “Yung parati siyang handang pakinggan mga songs ko, mga ideas ko. Nakakatuwa kasi siyempre galing sa puso ko yun tapos binibigyan niya ng oras at panahon.”
