Team Batangas City emerged as champion in the 2026 ASAPHIL U18 Men’s Softball National Championships held from May 1 to 6 in Barangay Libjo, Batangas.
Nine teams from different parts of the country participated in the tournament including squads from Nasugbu, Calaca, Cuenca, Lemery, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, General Trias, Cavite, and Agoncillo.
Team Batangas City captured the championship after defeating Calaca, 4-3, in a thrilling title match. Pandi, Bulacan edged Batang Gentri for third place.
In the placement round, Team Agoncillo edged Team Nasugbu for the championship while Lemery settled for third after overcoming Cuenca.
Batangas City players also hauled in individual awards. Rick Lenard De Guzman was named Best Slugger, Most Home Runs, and Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament, while Omar Driz earned Best Pitcher honors.
“This year’s championship showed exactly why grassroots development remains vital to the future of Philippine softball,” said ASAPHIL President and Cebuana Lhuillier CEO Jean Henri Lhuillier.
“The level of discipline, competitiveness, and teamwork displayed by these young athletes proves that the country has a very promising pipeline of talent. Beyond the wins and awards, tournaments like this help shape character, build confidence, and strengthen communities through sports,” he added.
