SAFE program to elevate police service in Negros Island Region

BACOLOD CITY – The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region is elevating police service in Negros and Siquijor through the SAFE NIR program introduced by acting regional director Police Brig. Gen. Romano Cardiño.
SAFE stands for Seen, Appreciated, Felt, and Extraordinary, which is aligned with the Philippine National Police (PNP) Focused Agenda anchored on the vision of "Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.”
Cardiño, who assumed the post as PRO-NIR chief only last week, presented his program of action during a fellowship dinner with reporters at the Kanlaon Hall of Camp Alfredo M. Montelibano here Friday night.
“The police in NIR should be seen on the streets. There should be police visibility. They should also be appreciated for their professionalism. The actions of the police should always be professional, not abusive,” he said.
“Dapat maramdaman niyo rin ang aming mga puso na gusto magsilbi sa region ng NIR. Dapat extraordinary ang ating service kahit walang nakatingin, walang nakakakita (You should also feel that our hearts want to serve the NIR. Our service must be extraordinary, even when no one is looking).”
Cardiño said he is pushing for the localized 911 emergency hotline which he discussed during his meeting with Bacolod City Mayor Greg Gasataya earlier on Friday.
“In Luzon, 911 is very effective. In case of emergency, just dial 911, and the police will immediately respond. Not only the police, but also for fire and emergency assistance from the local government. We are going to launch and introduce it to the community,” he added.
Cardiño took over the helm of PRO-NIR from Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay on May 8.
