IT'S THE SMALL THINGS
If there is anything that all the events that have transpired this week has reminded me of, it most certainly is that the only constant in this world is change. From changing your clothes every day to a change of heart — the range is wide, and the spectrum, so broad and varied. Change is a part of our daily lives — in ways big and small — whether or not we choose to acknowledge it.
If change is constant, politics — and everything that comes with it: power, positions, friendships — is fleeting. Change is a decision, and how we handle, and go about it is a reflection of us as individuals. Change can be progress, and oftentimes, it is, but change can also be the reason for digression and regression. In order to evolve, we must, or at least accept change. Change is growth, but change is actually also capable of holding us back. Change is ever-evolving. Change can be a hindrance, but it can also be the greatest opportunity and chance. A chance to advance.
Change is holistic. And in as much that change is positive for the most part, change can also be destructive if we allow it to be. Change can be chaotic. Change can be loud, and it can be quiet. It can be impulsive. It can lead to violence and unrest. Change can be irrational. Change can divide, in as much as it can corrupt and destroy. It can be forced upon us, and it can also be resisted. Change may not always be a want, but a lot of the times it is warranted. Change is oftentimes pivotal, and causes a turning point of sorts. There need not always be a reason for change, nor an explanation, but we should find a way to embrace it — whether it is a challenge, or something we welcome.
Change will always bring about something new, and will raise a lot of questions. But for as long as it is our mission, our mindset, and our mantra to accept it, and for as long as we seek change for the good and betterment of all, it will yield something positive. Then, change can be beautiful.
