Members of the Eastern Police District (EPD) arrested the No. 2 most wanted person of the Marikina City Police Station during a manhunt operation conducted on Thursday, May 14.

Authorities identified the suspect as alias “Erni,” 51, a resident of Barangay Malanday, Marikina City.

The suspect was arrested at around 4:30 p.m. in Barangay Aurora West, Diffun, Quirino Province by operatives of the Marikina City Police Station Warrant and Subpoena Unit, together with personnel from Police Sub-Station 1.

Police said the arrest was based on a warrant issued by the Family Court Branch 7 in Marikina City for qualified anti-human trafficking under Republic Act 9208. The suspect was also recommended for P200,000 bail for acts of lasciviousness under Republic Act 7610.

Investigation showed that the suspect allegedly brought a 12-year-old victim to a river park where the abuse reportedly took place.

Authorities added that the suspect allegedly attempted to bring the child to a motel but was reportedly denied entry by the staff.

The incident was later reported to police by the victim’s grandmother.

The suspect is now under the custody of the Marikina City Police Station for proper disposition and documentation.

EPD director Brig. Gen. Aden Lagradante said the district will continue strengthening operations against crimes involving abuse and exploitation.
