UST rolls out red carpet for UAAP Season 88 closing ceremonies

Mirroring the spectacle of the season’s Opening Ceremonies held last September, the Closing Ceremonies will gather athletes, officials, and guests for an evening of recognition, celebration, and Thomasian artistry.
Carrying a red carpet theme, awardees are expected to arrive in formal gowns and suits as they take part in the festivities. The red carpet opens at 4:30 p.m., while the main program officially begins at 6:00 p.m.
Honoring UAAP’s Finest
During the closing program, UAAP will confer individual awards to athletes who distinguished themselves individually and helped their teams reach new heights in S88. Taking center stage will be the “Athlete of the Year” award, given to athletes who consistently demonstrate excellence, strength, and grit in every game played.
Furthermore, the festive occasion will honor the Rookies of the Year, Most Valuable Players, as well as the Athlete-Scholars of the Year. Each group of awardees will have their own “Olympic” moment as the ceremonies aim to highlight their most uplifting, defining, and victorious moments of the season.
With multiple general championships under its belt, UST is set to claim its 49th senior championship and 25th junior championship as they top off this season.
The closing will further feature a formal turnover of the UAAP flag from UST to the Far Eastern University, which is to host UAAP Season 89.
Thomasian talents take center stage
Inspired by the welcoming spirit of the Opening Ceremonies last September 19, 2025, the closing salvo will embody the same warmth and grandeur, promising a memorable evening for UAAP athletes. The ceremonies will be serenaded with live music, featuring original arrangements of popular songs performed by the UST Conservatory of Music’s Symphony Orchestra and the UST Singers. These musicians will also perform each university’s hymn live as athletes from the respective schools are highlighted during the ceremonies.
The lineup of performances will also include the Sinag Ballroom Dance Company and the Salinggawi Dance Troupe, electrifying the stage with their grand production, alongside performances from Thomasian artists Katrine Sunga and David Ezra.
In true Thomasian style, athlete-awardees from UST are also set to unveil their classy side with outfits by Thomasian alumni fashion designers, namely Ganda Anore, Pencil Diestra, Laura Santos, and Alistair Balane.
How to witness the event
The closing ceremonies will be open to in-person spectators and livestream viewers. Tickets may be claimed at the IPEA Office, UST Quadricentennial Pavilion, while channels OneSports, Pilipinas Live, and the UAAP Varsity Channel will livestream the event.
Attendees inside the UST campus can also witness the closing ceremonies through a live watch party at the Plaza Mayor.
