Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez announced that every city and municipality in the National Capital Region (NCR) will be allotted two stalls each at the upcoming Baclaran Gateway Market as part of the government’s “One Town, One Product” initiative.
Olivarez made the announcement during a meeting of the Metro Manila Council held at the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) office.
According to the mayor, the move aims to promote locally made products and help strengthen small businesses and livelihood opportunities across Metro Manila.
Under the arrangement, each local government unit in NCR will have dedicated stalls where they can showcase and sell their unique local products, delicacies, handicrafts, and other goods.
Olivarez said the Baclaran Gateway Market is envisioned to become a major trading and tourism hub that will not only benefit vendors in Parañaque City but also provide economic opportunities for other Metro Manila local government units.
The mayor added that the project is expected to attract more consumers and tourists due to its strategic location beside the LRT Line 1 Redemptorist-Aseana Station and near major commercial and transportation areas.
The market, which is expected to become the country’s largest Kadiwa Market, will also serve as an organized trading area for thousands of vendors while helping promote affordable goods and regional products from across NCR.
