Mangudadatu appeals for calm amid political strife

MANGUDADATU

DAVAO CITY – Sultan Kudarat Gov. Datu Pax Ali Mangudadatu has appealed to government officials and the people to remain calm amid ongoing political tensions.

Mangudadatu said that he is saddened by recent developments.

He underscored the importance of protecting the country’s democratic institutions and respecting the roles of the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches of government.

Mangudadatu warned of a constitutional crisis or infringement in the country’s sovereignty when one of them falls apart.

He urged government officials to remain accountable, transparent, and truthful amid the political chaos.

Mangudadatu said that the people deserve a clear explanation on the recent turn of events. He also appealed to authorities to respect due process and the separation of powers.

The governor appealed to the public not to draw conclusions without any basis. “Let us be practical, let us be honest, balanced, fair and just, and do not be hasty towards judgments or drawing conclusions without basis.”
