Defiant Momo refuses to be affected by 'politically-motivated' allegations

Surigao del Sur 1st district Rep. Romeo Momo refuses to let the "politically-motivated" allegations of corruption hound him and his work.
"I will not allow these attacks to distract me from my duty. I will continue to serve with integrity, focus, and determination," a rather defiant Momo said in a statement Friday, May 15.
"The allegations being thrown against me are false - plain and simple. Yet again, the same individuals are filing complaints and making loud claims about their so-called 'containers of evidence'," he said.
"This is an obvious attempt to tarnish my name after failing to defeat me politically," added the Mindanao congressman.
Earlier, several officials based in Surigao del Sur were slapped with charges of plunder, graft, and other complaints before the Office of the Ombudsman.
Momo, chairman of the House Committee on Public Works and Highways, was among the respondents.
The cases have to do with alleged conflicts of interest involving infrastructure and procurement projects.
"It is disappointing that instead of moving forward and helping address the real needs of our people, they continue to waste time and effort on baseless accusations driven by bitterness and political vendetta," Momo said.
He ended his statement with a message of gratitude to his supporters.
"To those who continue to stand with me and my family despite all these attacks, thank you for your trust, prayers, and unwavering support."
