The Makati City Police Station said the suspect, identified as “Ronilo,” was nabbed for illegal possession of a firearm.
Authorities said that during an Oplan Sita at the corner of Arnaiz Avenue and Batangas Street in Barangay San Isidro, they spotted the suspect and his back rider onboard a motorcycle.
They flagged down the pair for a routine check and noticed what appeared to be a firearm tucked in the suspect’s waistband.
However, instead of cooperating, they tried to escape, triggering a brief chase. Ronilo was cornered and arrested at the intersection of Arnaiz Avenue and P. Binay Street. His companion managed to flee.
Recovered from him was a .357-caliber revolver loaded with four live ammunition, as well as the motorcycle he was using, which had no license plate.
He is now in police custody and will face charges for violation of Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code (resistance and disobedience to persons in authority or their agents) and Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).
