Seeking to assist commuters in Metro Manila, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) said it has implemented its “libreng sakay” or free transportation program.
“The PCSO launched the Libreng Sakay Program to provide our fellow Filipinos who travel daily for work, school, and other essential activities with safer, more convenient, and accessible transportation along major routes in Metro Manila,” PCSO General Manager Melquiades “Mel” A. Robles said in a statement.
“Through this initiative, PCSO hopes to alleviate the public's daily transport cost,” he added.
The PCSO will provide two buses traversing SM Fairview to Quiapo and vice versa.
According to the agency, it will operate from Monday to Friday from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. to cater to commuters during peak hours.
The program is aligned with the agency’s efforts to deliver responsive and people-centered services to the public.
The PCSO also said it will continue to provide services to support public welfare and meet the urgent needs of Filipinos.
The agency urged commuters to make use of the free rides service and observe proper courtesy and safety protocols during their commute.
