SAIC Motor Philippines, distributor of MG cars in the Philippines, has officially started deliveries of the first G50 PHEV units in the country. The first batch of units were turned over to the initial customers at MG Alabang.
The G50 PHEV, the new plug-in hybrid version of the G50 MPV, secured over 800 reservations since its unveiling at the Manila International Auto Show in April 2026.
Powered by a plug-in hybrid system, the MG G50 PHEV delivers the flexibility of both electric and gasoline driving. With a factory rated total combined range of up to 1,415 kilometers, customers can enjoy efficient daily commutes while maintaining the capability for longer journeys. Its spacious cabin can seat up to seven passengers. It comes with premium features, and advanced technology further reinforcing its proposition as a next-generation family vehicle.
It is powered by a combination of a 1.5-liter gasoline engine and electric motor and battery that combine to form a plug-in hybrid system that powers the front wheels of the car. The driver gets a digital instrument cluster while passengers can enjoy entertainment from its digital center infotainment screen.
The arrival and release of the MG G50 PHEV units come shortly after its successful preview, reflecting strong market interest and positive reception from Filipino car buyers. The G50 PHEV offers a compelling balance of performance, efficiency, and practicality—making it an ideal choice for those looking to transition into electrified mobility. The strong initial demand underscores the growing interest in new energy vehicles, particularly those that offer both practicality and versatility for everyday use.
The turnover ceremony was held at MG Alabang, where Mauro Cortez, a business owner who plans to utilize the MG G50 PHEV for his furniture business operations, and Reginald Gregorio, who chose the vehicle to better accommodate his family for everyday trips, formally received the keys to their new MG G50 PHEV — becoming among the first owners of MG’s newest plug-in hybrid MPV in the country.
