BTS, Madonna, Shakira to headline first-ever FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show
K-pop boy band BTS and global music superstars Madonna and Shakira will headline the first-ever FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show at the New York–New Jersey Stadium on July 19.
The show, curated by Coldplay’s Chris Martin and produced by Global Citizen, aims to raise $100 million for the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which is intended to improve access to quality education and football for children around the world.
“We can’t wait! Through the power of sport and entertainment, we’re making the World Cup Final a platform for global change,” Global Citizen said in an Instagram post announcing the event.
Global Citizen said this will be the first time in FIFA World Cup history that the final will feature a halftime show, bringing “together superstars for a singular moment at the intersection of sport, culture, and purpose, broadcast live around the world.”
The show will also feature characters from "Sesame Street" and "The Muppets," including Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, and others.
