The dust may have finally settled on the grueling 14-stage MPTC Tour of Luzon 2026, but organizers are already setting their sights on an even grander return next year as they aim to sustain the race’s growing legacy with a bigger and more competitive edition.
“See you all in 2027,” Tour chief organizers and CEO Arrey Perez announced on Wednesday night, May 13, during the awarding and closing ceremonies at the convention center inside Camp John Hay in Baguio.
Among their initial plans is to increase the race to 17 stages with stops in Bicol and Quezon.
“Nakita nating successful, mahirap nang itigil ito. Syempre paplanuhin nang mabuti natin yan,” said Patrick Gregorio, founder of the Tour’s revival and chairman of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).

Live social media coverage also peaked, exceeding last year’s total of 103 million views in just after eight stages.
“I’m very happy na iba na yung profile nung mga nanuod from last year. Ngayon, may mga bata kang nakikitang mga naka-cycling helmet. Parami nang parami yung mga tao, hindi lang mga fans ng mga cyclists, but specifically the sport,” Gregorio said.
Russian Nikita Shulchenko from LCW UAE Cycling Team emerged as this year’s champion and went home with P1 million, while 7-Eleven Cliqq Roadbike ruled the team race and pocketed P2 million.
