BACOLOD CITY – Fourteen Education graduates from Negros Island schools topped the March 2026 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT).
In the elementary level, Sahn Chien Alentiojo Montecastro of Central Philippine State University (CPSU)-Candoni in Negros Occidental ranked fifth with a rating of 93.80 percent; Barangay Bata, Bacolod SK Chairperson Jessie Jane Sanchez Lumawag of the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (UNO-R) ranked seventh with 93.40 percent; and Rowela Ambong De-ala of Bago City College (BCC), Kristel Clair Tia Paltu-ob of Kabankalan Catholic College, Jorry Rico Niniel of CPSU-Cauayan, and Nera Andre Belaño Quinto of Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (CHMSU)-Talisay, are eighth with 93.20 percent.
Bago City Mayor Marina Javellana-Yao met the 24-year-old De-ala from Barangay Taloc at the City Hall on Tuesday. She is the daughter of a tricycle driver and a housewife. De-ala was grateful for her achievement and elated to inspire fellow students, especially future educators.
The barangay council of Bata lauded Lumawag, a magna cum laude Bachelor of Science in Special Needs Education graduate at UNO-R, for her milestone.
In the secondary level, Shauna Espina Tifora of Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) ranked second with a rating of 95 percent while Kim Patricia Yanson Espinosa of CHMSU-Talisay, Jemark Mag-aso Tipontipon of Mount Carmel College-Escalante, both in Negros Occidental, and Dyann Alam Tubio of Siliman University in Negros Oriental, tied at fifth with 94.20 percent.
Eavanlee Dollosa Villar of Central Philippine Adventist College ranked seventh with 93.80 percent; Mark Lourenz Estardo Erio from CPSU main campus and Maybelyn Manlanat Panunciar of CPSU-San Carlos ranked ninth with 93.40 percent; and Andrea Uella Bersales Falcunit of Philippine Normal University-Visayas (PNU-V) ranked 10th with 93.20 percent.
CHSMU-Talisay ranked seventh among top-performing elementary level schools with 50 to 99 examinees and at least 90 percent passing rate with 96.43 percent passing rate and 54 out of 56 successful examinees. CPSU-Victorias ranked ninth with a 95.31 percent passing rate and 61 out of 64 successful examinees.
In the secondary level, PNU-Visayas in Cadiz City ranked second among schools with 100 to 299 examinees and at least 90 percent passing rate with 175 passers out of 177 examinees or 98.87 percent.
Results of the exam were released by the Professional Regulation Commission on Tuesday, May 12.
