San Juan City strengthened its community spaces with the inauguration of its inclusivity hub, a multi-purpose center featuring dedicated areas for senior citizens, youth, and victim-survivors of violence against women, which provides mental health support, health and wellness services, and facilities for various programs and activities.
Mayor Francis Zamora led the inauguration and blessing of the Makabagong San Juan Inclusivity Hub along Santolan Road on Tuesday, May 12, together with city officials. It is a four-storey building with a roof deck that provides dedicated spaces for women, youth, and senior citizens to conduct their programs and activities.
Among its facilities are the Senior Citizen Center, Youth Center, Juan Space: A Community-Based Teen Center, City Library, Gender and Development (GAD) Office, and a Women Crisis Center, which is scheduled to open soon.
The local government said the hub will be open from Monday to Thursday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., adding that all facilities are free to use upon coordination with the respective LGU offices or departments.
Zamora said it is called an Inclusivity Hub because it reflects the local government’s effort to embrace and include various sectors of society.
The mayor also said that the local government is open to suggestions from beneficiaries on what additional facilities or services should be included in the hub, noting that they are best positioned to identify their own needs and help improve the facility further.
Senior Citizen Center
It is a dedicated social activity center for senior citizens designed to promote active aging, wellness, and community engagement.
The facility includes exercise equipment, reading materials, recreational spaces, and meeting areas where seniors may participate in social, educational, and wellness activities.
Those interested may coordinate with the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) – San Juan City through 0917-3844041 or [email protected].
Youth Center
It is a multi-purpose space for the youth that serves as a venue for leadership development, skills training, educational programs, recreational activities, youth organization meetings, and community engagement initiatives.
The city government said the center aims to encourage youth participation in governance, volunteerism, and nation-building.
For inquiries and coordination, they may contact the Youth Development Office / Sangguniang Kabataan Affairs Office through 0936-5417006 or [email protected].
Juan Space: A Community-Based Teen Center
The center is a youth-friendly facility that provides adolescents and young people with access to health services, mental health support, counseling, education, and empowerment programs in a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment.
It offers the following health services and mental health counseling: medical consultation, immunization (HPV), dental check-ups every Tuesday and Thursday, deworming and iron supplementation, prenatal and postnatal check-ups, and family planning services.
For mental health and counseling services, it provides one-on-one counseling, health education sessions, and a safe space to talk, share, and be heard.
It also offers learning and empowerment programs, including Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASRH), SHAPE-A (Sexually Healthy & Personally Empowered Adolescents), Reproductive Health Education (RHE), and the Parent-Teen Trail Program.
For inquiries and appointments, contact the Juan Space Teen Center at the Makabagong San Juan Inclusivity Hub through (02) 8470 9921 or [email protected].
City Library
The hub also features a modern public learning and resource center that provides access to books, digital resources, reading areas, research materials, and educational programs for students, professionals, and residents.
It also serves as a venue for literacy programs, workshops, and community learning activities.
For inquiries and library services, the public may contact the San Juan City Library at the Makabagong San Juan Inclusivity Hub through 09664068517 or [email protected] or [email protected].
Gender and Development (GAD) Office
There is also a GAD Office that leads the implementation of programs, policies, and initiatives promoting gender equality, inclusivity, women empowerment, and the protection of vulnerable sectors in the city.
Among its services and programs are the conduct of trainings and seminars, including Gender Sensitivity Training (GST), orientation on the Anti-Sexual Harassment Law, and other gender-responsive capability-building programs. It also includes the issuance of the Right to Care Card starting June 2026, which recognizes and supports diverse family structures and partnerships.
For inquiries and assistance, residents may contact the Gender and Development (GAD) Office at the Makabagong San Juan Inclusivity Hub through +639951920876 or [email protected].
Women Crisis Center
Meanwhile, a Women Crisis Center will soon be opened on the 4th floor and roof deck of the Makabagong San Juan Inclusivity Hub.
It is a 24/7 facility intended to provide temporary shelter and residential care, protective custody intervention, and basic social welfare services to victim-survivors of Violence Against Women (VAW), Violence Against Women and Their Children (VAWC), and other Women in Especially Difficult Circumstances (WEDC).
It aims to provide a safe, secure, and supportive environment while coordinating legal, medical, psychosocial, and livelihood interventions for clients.
