PNP orders dismissal proceedings vs cop nabbed in Pampanga drug bust
A police officer in Central Luzon is facing dismissal proceedings after he was arrested in an anti-drug operation in Pampanga on Tuesday.
In a statement on Wednesday, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said he has ordered the immediate fast-tracking of dismissal proceedings against a police officer.
"This operation sends a strong message that no police officer involved in illegal activities will be protected by the organization," he said.
"The arrest of a police officer included in the watchlist proves that our internal cleansing campaign is active, intelligence-driven, and relentless."
The officer was arrested during a buy-bust operation in Barangay San Jose in San Fernando City on Tuesday. Authorities said the suspect, who was already included on a drug watchlist, was caught with about 105 grams of suspected shabu valued at around P714,000.
The Police Regional Office in Central Luzon (PRO-3) said criminal and administrative charges would be filed against the officer.
Nartatez directed the PRO-3 regional director to ensure the immediate filing of airtight cases supported by strong evidence and proper documentation to prevent technical lapses during proceedings.
"I have directed the RD, PRO-3 to expedite dismissal proceedings against the personnel involved in illegal drug activities. We want a swift but fair administrative action, supported by solid evidence and due process," he said.
The PNP chief also reiterated the organization’s commitment to rooting out "ninja cops" and other corrupt personnel.
