Customs revenue hits ₱329 billion in strong start to 2026

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) collected ₱328.8 billion in the first four months of 2026, outperforming its revenue targets as major shipping hubs and airports saw a surge in trade activity and improved operational efficiency.
According to data from the Bureau of the Treasury, the BOC’s total collection increased 7.4 percent at end-April this year compared with the ₱306.1 billion recorded during the same period in 2025.
Customs officials attributed the performance to a broad-based recovery across the country's most critical entry points. For the January-to-April period, all major ports—including the Manila International Container Port, the Port of Batangas, and the Ninoy Aquino International Airport—exceeded their cumulative collection goals.
Other key regional hubs in Cebu, Davao, Subic, Clark, and Cagayan de Oro also surpassed their respective benchmarks.
The agency described the results as a reflection of its sustained commitment to trade facilitation and operational efficiency. The strong performance across multiple districts has provided a robust foundation for the government's full-year fiscal objectives.
In April alone, the momentum remained concentrated in the country’s industrial and logistics corridors. Collection districts in MICP, NAIA, Batangas, and Subic led the monthly surplus, supported by smaller but overperforming ports in Iloilo, Surigao, San Fernando, and Aparri.
Customs Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno linked the revenue gains to increased workforce discipline and tighter coordination across the agency’s 17 ports nationwide.
He noted that the accomplishments are a byproduct of institutional reforms currently being implemented under the bureau’s Integrity, Accountability, and Modernization (IAM) agenda. This framework is designed to automate customs processes, reduce human intervention, and strengthen transparency to minimize revenue leakages.
The bureau is moving to further enhance public service delivery and modernize its digital infrastructure as part of a broader mandate to support government spending.
By upholding accountability across all collection districts, the agency expects to maintain its current pace of revenue growth through the second half of the year, providing the national government with the necessary fiscal space to fund infrastructure and social programs.
