ILOILO CITY – The Police Regional Office-6 is pushing for stronger protocols after a security guard shot an employee here Sunday.
PRO-6 Director Police Brig. Gen. Josefino Ligan has directed the Regional Civil Security Unit (RCSU) to monitor private security agencies in Western Visayas.
“Hindi na dapat maulit (This should not happen again),” Ligan told the Iloilo Police and Defense Press Corps.

PRO-6 said the incident is a wake-up call for private security agencies to enforce stronger protocols.
Ligan said private security agencies should enforce neuro-psychiatric examinations and conduct background investigations before hiring security guards.
He also said private companies, including malls hiring security agencies, should also do their own due diligence in ensuring security guards assigned to their establishments are of sound mind.
The suspect said the incident was caused by a verbal misunderstanding. The PRO-6 is awaiting the results of an investigation by the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO).
Mayor Raisa Treñas here urged a review of security protocols in private establishments to avoid similar incidents in the future.
