The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) seized nearly P2 million worth of illegal drugs and arrested 198 individuals during a weeklong intensified anti-criminality and anti-illegal drugs operation across the city from May 3 to 9.
Led by QCPD director Police Brig. Gen. Randy Glenn Silvio, the operations targeted illegal drugs, wanted persons, loose firearms, and illegal gambling across the city.
In its report, the QCPD said 50 anti-illegal drugs operations resulted in the arrest of 72 suspects and the seizure of P1,979,464 worth of illegal drugs.
Operations against wanted persons led to the arrest of 70 individuals, including 27 most wanted persons and 43 other wanted persons.
Nine anti-illegal firearms operations were also conducted, leading to nine arrests and the recovery of nine firearms.
Separate anti-gambling operations culminated in the arrest of 47 individuals and the confiscation of P17,891 in bet money.
Among those arrested were alias “Dean Michael,” who was apprehended by the District Anti-Carnapping Unit for frustrated murder after 26 years in hiding; alias “Idelito,” arrested by Talipapa Police Station 3 for attempted rape after nine years of evasion; and alias “Ruel,” who was served a warrant of arrest for alarms and scandal by Novaliches Police Station 4 after also evading authorities for nine years.
The QCPD said all courts of origin have been notified of the arrests.
Corresponding charges have been filed before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office for violations of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, Presidential Decree 1602 (illegal gambling), and Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
