A 39-year-old man was arrested after patrolling police caught him carrying an unlicensed .38-caliber revolver in Barangay 8, Caloocan City, shortly before midnight on Sunday, May 10.
Personnel from the Sangandaan Police Sub-Station (SS-4) of the Caloocan City Police Station spotted the suspect inspecting a firearm while they were conducting intensified police visibility operations.
The officers approached the suspect but he allegedly fled, triggering a brief chase that ended in his arrest.
Recovered from his possession was one .38-caliber revolver without serial number loaded with two live bullets.
The suspect, a jobless resident of Barangay 7, Caloocan City, failed to present a license to possess the firearm. He will face charges for violation of Section 28 of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
He was taken to the Caloocan City Medical Center for medical examination and later transferred to the Investigation and Detective Management Section of the Caloocan City Police Station for documentation and further investigation.
Charges are being readied for inquest proceedings before the Caloocan City Prosecutor’s Office.
