Tot dies from rabies in Leyte; pa seeks probe on lapses
TACLOBAN CITY – A two-year-old girl died after she was attacked by three dogs and infected with rabies in Barangay Campetic, Palo, Leyte, on Saturday, May 9.
Her parents said she was taken to the Leyte Provincial Hospital (LPH) in Palo and referred to the Eastern Visayas Medical Center (EVMC) here Sunday.
Her father said they arrived at EVMC around 6 p.m. She was administered tetanus toxoid vaccine at around 10 p.m. when she was in critical condition. She died Sunday.
Her father has sought a hospital investigation over alleged lapses in her treatment. He urged the owners of the dogs to take responsibility for the incident.
The EVMC has yet to issue a statement on the incident.
