ILOILO CITY – A security guard shot and wounded a mall employee here on Sunday afternoon, May 10.
The Iloilo City Police Office is investigating the incident. “The ICPO assures the public that we are conducting a fair, impartial, and comprehensive investigation into this incident,” said Iloilo City police chief Police Col. Wilbert B. Parilla.
Investigation said roving security guard Joseph Claudio escorted Jhomay Pallon and other employees outside the mall during their afternoon break.
They returned to work and Pallon allegedly approached and engaged Claudio in a verbal spat. Claudio was irked and shot the victim who was taken to a hospital.
The 37-year-old Claudio surrendered to the police. The suspect admitted that he shot Pallon out of anger and he regrets the incident.
Despite the suspect’s admission, Parilla ordered the Mandurriao Police Station to determine the complete circumstances behind the incident.
“We appreciate the concern and support of Mayor Raisa S. Treñas and assure everyone that updates will be provided accordingly as the investigation progresses,” said Parilla in a statement on Monday, May 11.
The ICPO is closely coordinating with the Iloilo City government and other concerned agencies regarding the incident.
