Armed with an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court (ICC), former senator Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes IV on Monday, May 11, said that he went to the Senate after Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa allegedly challenged him to accompany authorities if an arrest were to be carried out against him.

Speaking to reporters, Trillanes said Dela Rosa previously dared him on national television to be present during any attempt to arrest him, prompting his appearance at the Senate premises.
“Sabi nya make my day eh. Make his day, eh. Samahan ko raw siya, eh di nandito ako ngayon. Personal request na samahan ko raw pag aarestuhin sya (He said, ‘Make my day.’ Well, I’ll make his day. He told me to accompany him, so I’m here now. He personally asked me to accompany him if he were to be arrested),” Trillanes said.
He added that National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) agents were also present in connection with the supposed implementation of the ICC warrant.
Dela Rosa claimed that he wrestled with NBI agents who were preventing him from entering the Senate.
But Trillanes argued that he was not present when this happened.
"Kung nandun ako edi nagapos na yun (If I had been there, he would’ve already been handcuffed)," Trillanes said.
