'Koolpals' preview 7th anniversary show birthday bash style

"The Koolpals," one of the Philippines’ most successful comedy podcasts and a flagship show under The Pod Network, gave select members of the media an early look at their upcoming 7th anniversary show through a lively and unconventional press preview, recently.

Known for consistently ranking among the top-performing comedy podcasts in the country, "The Koolpals" have built a loyal and highly engaged community since launching in 2019. The show blends stand-up comedy with candid, barkada-style conversations that continue to resonate strongly with Filipino audiences.

Held ahead of their major live event on May 30 at The Tent Las Piñas, the preview intentionally moved away from the traditional press conference format. Instead, media guests were immersed in a birthday party-style experience featuring interactive segments inspired by Filipino celebrations, including a playful “Bring Me” challenge, along with a short live set from the group.

Beyond their local success, "The Koolpals" have also gained regional recognition from Spotify Southeast Asia, receiving a Creator Milestone Award for building a strong and consistent listener community. The recognition places them alongside globally recognized podcasts celebrated for sustained audience engagement.

Their growing impact has even extended beyond the Philippines, with the group acknowledged within Spotify’s regional ecosystem, including a visit to the Spotify Southeast Asia headquarters in Singapore—marking a milestone moment for Filipino podcast creators.

“This is exactly what the anniversary will feel like, except on a much bigger scale,” the group shared during the preview.

Alan Fontanilla, CEO of The Pod Network, emphasized the significance of "The Koolpals’" journey, saying the show is a strong example of community-driven success in the digital space.

“'The Koolpals' are a perfect example of what happens when creators build a real community first,” Fontanilla said. “They didn’t just grow an audience, they built a culture around the show. What you’re seeing now, from sold-out live events to regional recognition from Spotify, is a result of years of consistency, authenticity, and understanding what Filipino listeners truly connect with.”

The upcoming 7th anniversary show will feature a large-scale live podcast recording, stand-up comedy performances, and live acts from Mayonnaise, Tubero, and Ebe Dancel. Organizers are also preparing interactive experiences designed to bring the audience directly into the show.

With SVIP and VIP tickets already sold out, anticipation continues to build for what is expected to be one of the biggest comedy-driven live podcast events in the country.

As part of The Pod Network’s expanding slate of creator-led shows, "The Koolpals" continue to push the boundaries of podcasting, transforming it from a digital format into a full-scale live entertainment experience.
