International Public Relations Association Philippines inducts new set of officers

The International Public Relations Association (IPRA) Philippines recently held its 2026-2028 officers’ induction ceremony led by new chairperson Claire de Leon-Papa. Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Dave M. Gomez inducted the new officers at the Malacañang Palace compound on April 7, 2026.

With an over 50-year history (having been established in 1972) and counting among its members some of the most experienced PR professionals, IPRA Philippines continues to play a significant role in the way public relations through strategic communications moves forward. And doubly so for its new officers, as Secretary Gomez underlined in his message that the privilege of being elected “carries the responsibility to uphold and elevate the standards of PR in our country and beyond.”
As her chairmanship commences, Papa, who is also the head of PR and Partnerships of Unilab, Inc., focuses on how IPRA as an organization can help shape a quickly transitioning industry driven by technology without losing its long-held values of integrity and relevance.
She is looking to the strength and effectiveness of collaboration and alignment, of collectively working together to address the challenges faced by both industry and society. IPRA Philippines continues to uphold the ethical standards of public relations and journalism through thought leadership, capacity building, and fostering ethical practices that serve both private and public institutions.
Joining Papa as IPRA Philippines officers are ABS-CBN Corp. vice president for Corporate Communications Kane Choa as vice chairman; Far Eastern University vice president for Corporate Affairs Dr. Rowena Capulong-Reyes as secretary; and Department of Budget and Management Undersecretary Wilford Wong as treasurer.
Completing the officers are the members of the Board of Advisers: Buensalido Public Relations and Communications founder and CEO Joy Buensalido; Perceptions, Inc. president and CEO Noel Nieva; and City of Dreams Manila vice president for Public Relations Charisse Chuidian.
The officers and members of IPRA Philippines also presented Secretary Gomez with a copy of “PR Matters: A Communicator’s Guide to the Dynamic World of Public Relations,” as a token of appreciation. The anthology of best practices and insights contributed by members and curated from their articles in the weekly PR Matters column is a finalist at the 42nd National Book Awards.
