Authorities arrested a drug suspect during an anti-criminality operation and confiscated more than P142,000 worth of shabu and a deadly weapon in Pasay City on May 9.
Pasay City Police Chief Col. Joselito De Sesto identified the suspect only as “Will,” 31, a resident of Barangay 201, Pasay City. He was arrested at around 11:40 a.m. at the corner of Merville Access Road and Promised Land Street in Kalayaan, Pasay City.
De Sesto said members of the Villamor Substation were conducting Oplan Galugad/Bulabog operations and enforcing city ordinances when they spotted the suspect riding a motorcycle without the required protective helmet.
Police said the suspect appeared uneasy after being flagged down. When asked to present his driver’s license, a butterfly knife or balisong accidentally fell to the ground.
The suspect was immediately arrested for illegal possession of a bladed weapon. Authorities also discovered that the driver’s license he presented was under the name “Jhonathan Acacio,” which did not match his identity.
The city police chief added that a body search and inspection of the motorcycle compartment led to the recovery of 20.96 grams of suspected shabu worth P142,528, along with a weighing scale.
Police also confiscated a Yamaha Aerox motorcycle with plate number 204QEY, a checkered bag, and two cellular phones.
The suspect is currently detained at the police custodial facility and is facing charges for violation of Batas Pambansa Blg. 6, as well as Sections 11 and 12, Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
