SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – Newly installed Police Regional Office-1 chief Police Brig. Gen. Jovencio S. Badua Jr. on Friday launched a program to boost anti-crime operations and public trust in the police in the Ilocos region.
Badua said the program – Enhanced Anti-Criminality, Law Enforcement, Responsive, and Transformative Organization (Alerto) – is a proactive policing approach focused on operational readiness, discipline, and community-centered service.
“Alerto must not remain a concept. It must become our culture. Ang bawat pulis sa Rehiyon Uno ay dapat maging alerto sa bawat banta, maging alerto sa bawat tungkulin, at maging alerto sa pangangailangan ng mamamayan (Every police officer in the Ilocos region must be alert on threats, their jobs, and the needs of the people),” Badua said during his first “Talk to Men” with PRO-1 personnel.
“Dahil kapag alerto ang pulis, napipigilan ang krimen, napapalakas ang tiwala ng mamamayan, at naibabalik ang dangal ng organisasyon (If the police are alert, crimes will be stopped, people’s confidence will improve, and the dignity of the organization will return),” he added.
Badua formally assumed the position on Friday, May 9, in a ceremony in Camp Brig. Gen. Oscar Florendo here and outlined his governance and operational agenda for police personnel in Region 1.
He emphasized professionalism, accountability, operational preparedness, and integrity as essential elements of effective policing.
Badua served as chief of the Philippine National Police-Maritime Group and Police Regional Office-Mimaropa where he led anti-criminality drives and organizational reforms. He also served Region 1 in various leadership positions.
