Lawyer seeks UK visa cancellation of foreigner facing charges in PH court
The lawyer of two of the alleged human trafficking victims has asked the British embassy in the Philippines to cancel the resident visa of a London-based businessman who is facing criminal charges in the country.
Lawyer Rex Lampa said the assistance of the British embassy is necessary for the immediate deportation or extradition of Adel En Nouri following the issuance of arrest warrants against the latter for cases of qualified human trafficking, large scale illegal recruitment, estafa and serious illegal detention.
“We humbly appear to your sense of justice and compassion. My clients who have suffered deeply from the deplorable and criminal acts committed against them continue to suffer severe emotional distress, anxiety, and trauma,” Lampa’s letter read.
“His continued evasion of the law not only denies justice to my clients but also poses a serious threat to others who may fall victim to similar acts,” it added.
On March 4, regional trial court (RTC) in Bacoor City issued a warrant of arrest against Adel En Nouri and several other accused who were charged with a non-bailable qualified human trafficking under Section 4 (a) in relation to Section 6 (c) of Republic Act No. 9208 as amended by RA 10364, the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2021.
Another arrest warrant was issued last April 10 by the Bacoor City RTC for charges of serious illegal detention and large-scale illegal recruitment in the cases also filed by the Department of Justice.
Lampa explained that such criminal charges makes En Nouri not entitled to UK resident visa on the grounds that he is an undesirable alien.
He also wrote to the Italian Embassy in the Philippines to seek assistance in determining the exact whereabouts of En Nouri and in securing the latter’s immediate arrest.
Earlier, the alleged victims rescued in Cavite asked the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) Criminal Investigation and Detention Group (CIDG) to help them in the issuance of a red notice by the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) against En Nouri.
