Bureau of Customs (BOC) Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno has commended the Port of Batangas for its strong revenue performance and innovative operational practices, citing it as a model of efficiency in customs administration.
The recognition was given during the BOC Collectors’ Conference in April, where the Port, led by District Collector Carmelita M. Talusan, presented its best practices in revenue collection, trade facilitation, and border protection.
Preliminary data showed that the Port exceeded its March 2026 revenue target, collecting P22.21 billion against a goal of P19.16 billion, or a surplus of P3.05 billion.
For the first quarter of 2026, collections reached P59.14 billion, surpassing the P58.75 billion target by P398 million.
Nepomuceno attributed the Port’s performance to proactive and data-driven strategies, including early coordination with shipping lines and importers, tighter valuation monitoring, and improved compliance measures that helped boost revenues and curb leakages.
He also cited the Port’s strong engagement with stakeholders through consultative meetings, recognition of top importers, and compliance programs that strengthened partnerships with the private sector.
The BOC chief further highlighted modernization efforts at the Port, including the use of real-time monitoring dashboards, mobile applications, and cargo tracking systems to streamline operations and support decision-making.
He likewise noted intensified coordination with partner agencies to strengthen border protection against smuggling and other illicit activities, as well as the Port’s continued compliance with international standards through its ISO 9001:2015 certification.
Nepomuceno also recognized initiatives aimed at personnel development, such as capacity-building programs, integrity training, and employee engagement activities that promote professionalism within the workforce.
“The Port of Batangas stands as a model of excellence in customs administration. Its innovative strategies, strong partnerships, and commitment to integrity demonstrate how operational efficiency can translate into meaningful results for the Bureau and the country,” he said.
The Port continues to align its programs with the Commissioner’s IAM (Integrity, Accountability, and Modernization) agenda, reinforcing its commitment to transparency, ethical standards, and efficient customs operations.
