A fresh force is making its way into the ever-growing P-pop scene, and five young women are determined to prove that differences can create something powerful together.

Meet oona. Composed of Isaki, Coleen, Bella, Jaylou, and Kari, a new girl group bringing together different personalities, backgrounds, and experiences under one name and one dream.

For the members, the group’s identity starts with its name.

“‘oona.’ means ‘Be ONE,’” the group shared during an interview. “The double ‘oo’ symbolizes our contrasting characters, styles, and voices — like yin and yang. We’re different, but balanced.”

That blend of individuality is evident in the members’ diverse backgrounds.

Isaki was previously part of the second generation of the girl group MNL48, while Coleen came from the first generation lineup of the same group. Bella previously trained under G-Force Dance Center and Kidlat, became part of the UA&P dance varsity Squadra, and was also a member of Legit Status.

Meanwhile, Kari honed her skills as part of a varsity dance team, while Jaylou built experience through TV commercial work and participation in the BPOP Idol Search.

Despite their different paths, music became the common ground that brought them together.

“We want to move as one while still embracing what makes each of us unique,” the group said.

That vision comes to life through their debut single, "Darama," now available on major music streaming platforms.

What makes the track even more personal is that the song was written and composed by the members themselves.

According to the group, Darama was inspired by the feeling of “kilig,” that overwhelming flutter of emotions when something you once only dreamed about finally becomes real.

“What started as a simple emotion grew into something deeper,” the members explained. “It became a song about finding the right people, holding on through challenges, and turning dreams into reality.”

They added that the song reflects their own journey as a group, from uncertain beginnings to discovering a sense of belonging with one another.

“‘Darama’ captures that surreal moment when everything just feels natural and right,” they said.

Calling the track their “first baby,” the members admitted the song carries the exact emotions they continue to experience together.

“It’s the same feeling we all share: kilig, nadarama.”

Outside of creating music, the group hopes to represent more than just polished performances. They said oona. aims to stand for authenticity, discipline, growth, and storytelling rooted in real experiences.

When asked about the artists who influence their sound and style, the members quickly named a mix of global and local icons.

“As a group, our common favorites are Ariana Grande, XG, Michael Jackson, and locally, SB19,” they shared.

With a debut track anchored on emotion and unity, oona. now steps into the spotlight hoping listeners will see themselves in the music they create together.
