Matet de Leon clarifies she has no interest in Nora Aunor's estate, reveals misunderstanding with Ian de Leon

Actress Matet de Leon has come out to reiterate her stance on the ongoing controversy surrounding the estate of her late mother, Superstar and National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts Nora Aunor, firmly denying claims that she and her siblings are interested in their mother’s wealth.
In a revealing interview on "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda," Matet addressed viral social media posts and public commentary that linked her family to the issue of inheritance following Nora’s passing.
“‘Na wala kayong mana; na wala kayong karapatang pamanahan,’ laging gano’n,” she said, reacting to persistent online criticism.
Matet stressed that such remarks unfairly question their gratitude toward their late mother.
“As if we’re not thankful, we’re grateful to her. I am Matet because of my mother,” she emphasized.
One of the strongest points Matet raised was her denial of any interest in the estate or properties left behind by her mom.
“Hindi po namin iniisip ‘yung mana na ‘yan at wala kaming hinihingi. Wala kaming kini-claim,” she stated firmly.
Matet also appealed for respect toward her non-showbiz siblings, who she said have been subjected to harsh online insults.
“Tinawag na kaming call boy, call girl… Hindi po artista ang mga kapatid ko,” she said.
The actress further clarified her now-viral social media post featuring her and her siblings Lotlot, Kiko, and Kenneth de Leon, which sparked speculation about an inheritance dispute with brother Ian de Leon.
According to Matet, the post was not a direct attack on Ian but a reaction to repeated online comments questioning their legitimacy as Nora Aunor’s adopted children.
She also admitted that while there is no outright “away,” there remains a “misunderstanding” between her and Ian, as they have not been in proper communication regarding estate matters.
Matet acknowledged Ian’s statement that he is the legal heir but said this was never a point of dispute for her.
“Totoo naman po, e. Wala namang pagdududa dun,” she said.
However, she raised concern over claims that she and her siblings were properly consulted about decisions involving their mother’s assets and foundations.
According to Matet, they only learned about certain developments online and were not informed about the formation of a One Person Corporation (OPC) handling Nora Aunor’s name and legacy.
“Hindi po kami kasama… nalaman na lang po namin sa social media,” she revealed.
Despite the tension, Matet emphasized that their family chose to grieve separately during the first death anniversary of Nora Aunor, citing emotional unpreparedness to face the public and fans.
Ian has yet to issue a response to Matet’s latest statements as of writing.
