Kids turn heartfelt drawings into stories of love, care, and everyday motherhood
From superheroes to unicorns, children express love, gratitude, and admiration through art and words
This Mother’s Day, we requested a few children: “Can you draw your mom and tell us why she is special to you?” What came back were not just drawings, but insights as to how children see love—pure, authentic, and unfiltered.
From hearts and halos to unicorns and superheroes, each artwork tells a story of everyday motherhood as seen through young eyes. In their words and sketches, mothers are protectors, teachers, playmates, and safe places. They are home, no matter where their children are.
This drawing is for my mom because I love her very much. I wanted to show how special she is to me and how I feel God’s love through her every day. The cross in the middle of the heart represents God. I put it there because I believe God is always in our hearts and in the love we have for each other. My mom shows me love, care, and kindness, and because of her, I can feel God’s love too.
The shield with the halo represents protection from both God and my mom. The shield means they protect me from harm, sadness, and fear, and the halo shows that God is always watching over us and blessing our family. My mom makes me feel safe, strong, and loved every day.
The wings represent growing and soaring high. My mom helps me become stronger and believe in myself so I can reach my dreams.
I call my mom an “Eternal Heart” because her love never ends. She always loves me, supports me, and takes care of me every day. This drawing is my way of saying thank you to my mom for loving me so much and helping me grow into a better person.—Julio Ledesma, 11 years old, for mom Czarina Ledesma, Travelhood founder
It depicts my mom's sacrifice and how she took care of me. It also shows how we enjoy our bonding moments together.—Bren Ti Yalung, 9 years old, for mom Genevieve Jimenez Yalung, My Closet Manager Inc. founder and managing director
My unicorn is colorful and pretty like my Mommy.—Cassis Oloan, 5 years old, for mom Camille Oloan, Estee Lauder Companies PH country manager
This is mama. I drew it because mama is beautiful, cool, and very good with spreadsheets, but not good with basic math. I love Mama because she is the best mama in the world.—Miguel Ruiz, 9 years old
It has mama’s photos, a balloon, ‘Happy Mama’s Day,’ Mama on stage, and all the other mamas listening. I love mama, because mama is mama!—Rafa Ruiz, 6 years old, for mom Reese Fernandez-Ruiz, Rags2Riches president and founding partner
I drew my mom sitting with our family, including our pets, because they are part of the love and comfort she creates for us every day. My mom is the one who keeps everything together, even when she is busy and tired. She works hard, takes care of us, and still makes time to check on everyone—even our fur babies.
I admire how strong, caring, and determined she is. A lot of people see her as a leader and a professional, but to us, she is also the person who makes home feel safe and warm. She teaches me to be confident, kind, and hardworking by the way she lives her life. I’m proud that she’s my mom.—Andre de Guzman, 13 years old
I drew me and my mom for Mother’s Day because I love her very much. I drew us holding hands because she is always beside me and takes care of me every day. I made her big in the drawing because she is my superhero.
My mom works a lot but still plays with me, talks to me, and makes me feel loved. She also takes care of our pets and makes our family happy. My favorite thing about my mom is that she is sweet, funny, and always there for me.—Anna de Guzman, 9 years old, for Tina de Guzman, lawyer and Pinay Girl Boss and The Oil Natural Project founder
