Jayda Avanzado vindicated as Katy Perry praises viral 'Thinking of You' cover: I'm thinking of your version

Singer-actress Jayda Avanzado is basking in a major career-high moment after receiving unexpected praise from global pop icon Katy Perry for her viral cover of the song “Thinking of You.”

What began as a simple online performance quickly turned into an international spotlight moment when Katy herself dropped a comment that instantly set social media abuzz.

“When I’m listening to my version of Thinking of You, I am thinking of your version of Thinking of You,” the pop superstar wrote.

The message sent Jayda into an emotional spiral of disbelief and joy.

In a TikTok reaction video, the singer struggled to contain her emotions.

“There’s no way! Oh my gosh, I just woke up and I already wanna cry!” she said.

Jayda followed up with a heartfelt message of gratitude directed at Katy.

“Katy, you don’t know how much it means to me. Thank you so much. I really appreciate you acknowledging my cover. You’re one of my biggest influences ever—as an artist and as a vocalist. It means the world to me, so thank you!” she expressed.

The reaction video quickly went viral, gaining over a million views on TikTok alone, with fans celebrating what many called a “full-circle moment” for the young artist.

Jayda’s cover of “Thinking of You” had previously exploded online, amassing more than 10 million views across various platforms.

However, the viral moment also came with mixed reactions. Some praised her emotional interpretation, while others critiqued her airy vocal delivery and diction.

Instead of being discouraged, Jayda handled the attention with humor and confidence. She even joked with critics posting the full version of her cover with a caption that read: “Ito na, nakapag-nebulizer na po. Dahil diyan, ito na ‘yung full cover.”

She leaned into the joke further by updating her profile photo to an image of herself with a nebulizer, earning praise from fans for her self-awareness and playful response.
