A female police officer has been appointed as Muntinlupa City's new chief of police less than a week after Col. Aladdin Tamayo assumed the post.
Col. Olivia Ancheta, the new acting chief of police, paid a courtesy call on Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon on May 8.
Ancheta replaced Tamayo who took on the assignment last May 4 and was introduced during the flag-raising ceremony.
Before her new assignment, Ancheta served as the regional chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Regional Field Unit in Region I (Ilocos Region).
“Welcome to Muntinlupa, Col. Ancheta! Looking forward to our collaboration on Peace and Order programs for the city!” Biazon posted on Facebook as he welcomed Ancheta to Muntinlupa.
He said the city government has provided support to the Muntinlupa police, including the establishment of the Muntinlupa Police Command Center, acquisition motorcycles, SWAT assault vehicle, electric patrol cars, firearms and ammunition, and protective gears and support to operations.
To mark her first day, Ancheta conducted night inspection of police sub-stations and District Mobile Force Battalion Control Point to check the operation status of personnel.
“We at the police field are operating 24/7 and night security inspections are done to ensure we have enough personnel to man the post and to ensure we have the proper protocols in place to ensure personnel’s and community safety. Security is our highest priority, and we must assume our duties on behalf of the welfare of our citizens even when the sun goes down,” said Ancheta during the inspection.
She also met the security team of SM Center Muntinlupa to enhance coordination with the police and private security agency.
"We appreciate the collaboration and partnership. We work hand-in-hand to keep Muntinlupa safe.” she said.
