The Philippine National Police (PNP) lauded the police forces in Taguig City for arresting all the fugitives in its Top 10 most wanted list for four straight months.
The importance of the aggressive campaign against wanted criminals was emphasized by PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez, Jr. who said that in most cases, one wanted criminal was found to be responsible for multiple criminal offenses.
He cited several investigation reports of involvement of one wanted fugitive or a criminal syndicate to multiple criminal activities that include those recently arrested in Calabarzon, Metro Manila and Central Luzon.
“Our campaign is continuous to prevent these occurrence. The only way that we can prevent it is police operations to prevent this type of crime and as well as good reaction that is to ensure our investigative solution to end their criminal activity,” said Nartatez in a recent interview.
In the case of Taguig City Police Station, it already accounted all the fugitives in its Top 10 most wanted list since January this year.
Taguig police chief Col. Julius C. Añonuevo said the arrests were carried out through coordinated operations implementing warrants of arrest for various offenses, including murder, rape, carnapping, robbery, acts of lasciviousness, attempted homicide, qualified sexual assault, and violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
“These results show the hard work of our personnel in locating wanted persons and serving warrants issued by the courts. For four consecutive months, our station successfully accounted for all individuals included in the Top 10 Most Wanted Persons list,” Añonuevo said.
He also credited the accomplishment to continued coordination among police units and the support of Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano for programs strengthening peace and order in the city.
Añonuevo added that the operations were conducted in coordination with units of the National Capital Region Police Office, Southern Police District, and other law-enforcement agencies.
He said the Taguig police would continue operations and coordination with communities to strengthen law enforcement efforts across the city’s barangays.
