BARONDA with Maxim representatives.
ILOILO CITY – Ride-hailing companies Maxim and Grab Philippines acted on the appeal of Iloilo City Rep. Julienne “Jam-Jam” Baronda to slash commission rates to ease the impact of the fuel crisis on drivers.
“Maxim assured us that it is dedicated to helping our community thrive despite the fuel crisis,” said Baronda after meeting Maxim executives.
“I extend my gratitude to Grab Philippines for acting on my request and for granting the reduction. Such openness and a helpful heart deserve our appreciation. We need to help each other to better cope with the crisis that is affecting all of us,” added Baronda.
During the meeting, Taj Angeles, government affairs manager for Maxim in the Philippines, said that they have one of the lowest commission rates at eight percent.
Maxim, whose rate depends on the type of services and location, assured that they have initiated internal measures, including incentives, to drivers as the fuel crisis continues.
Grab Philippines has slashed their commission rate from 21 percent to 15 percent for 60 days.
Baronda urged other Transport Network Vehicle Service (TNVS) companies to reduce commission rates to ensure drivers still have money to take home to their families.
