The Sandiganbayan’s Third Division has deferred by 30 days the resolution of the separate petitions for bail filed by former senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. and six co-accused facing malversation of public funds charges in connection with a P92.8-million flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan.
The resolution on the bail petitions was originally scheduled to be issued on May 6, 2026.
Atty. Dennis Pulma, the clerk of court of the Third Division, said the anti-graft court needed additional time to rule on the bail petitions due to the volume of records and extensive witness testimonies involved in the proceedings.
“On behalf of the court’s Third Division, please be informed that the court was constrained to request for an extension of time to resolve the accused’s separate petition/s for bail in the case of People of the Philippines vs. Ramon Bautista Bong Revilla, Jr., et al., considering the volume of records generated by the proceedings and the number of transcript of stenographic notes (TSN) containing the witnesses’ extensive testimonies,” he said in a statement released on Friday, May 8.
As such, the notice cited subsequent filings submitted after the last hearing on the petitions on April 24, 2026.
These included accused Jaypee D. Mendoza’s petition for bail filed on April 27, 2026, as well as accused Juanito C. Mendoza’s supplemental memorandum with motion to admit filed on April 29, 2026.
Pulma said the extension period is “thirty (30) days beginning May 7, 2026.”
Revilla’s co-accused include former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Assistant District Engineer Brice Hernandez; engineers Jaypee Mendoza, R.J. Domasig, and Emelita Juat; as well as accountants Juanito Mendoza and Christina Mae Pineda.
