Easterlies, approaching storm to bring rains over parts of PH in the coming days
Scattered rains may persist in several parts of the country in the next seven days due to the easterlies and approaching Tropical Storm “Hagupit,” said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
In its weekly weather outlook released on Friday, May 8, PAGASA said Mindanao, including Siquijor and Palawan, continue to experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to easterlies.
The rest of the country continues to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
From Saturday to Sunday, May 9–10, Palawan will continue to receive scattered rains and thunderstorms from the easterlies, while the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with localized rain showers or thunderstorms.
PAGASA said the tropical storm with the international name “Hagupit” is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) around Saturday afternoon or evening. It will be locally called “Caloy” once it enters the PAR.
From Monday to Tuesday, May 11–12, PAGASA said the trough or extension of Caloy may bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas, Surigao del Norte, Dinagat Islands, Catanduanes, and Sorsogon.
The rest of the country will remain under partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
On Wednesday, May 13, PAGASA said Caloy is expected to weaken into a low-pressure area but may still bring scattered rains over Catanduanes, Northern Samar, and Eastern Samar.
The rest of the country will be generally partly cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
From Wednesday to Friday, May 14–15, PAGASA said generally fair weather will prevail over most parts of the country, with possible isolated rain showers or thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening.
