Comelec identifies 2 Basilan towns as potential poll hotspots

ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Commission of Elections-Basilan has identified the municipalities of Al-Barka and Tipo-Tipo as potential hotspots in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao elections in September.
Roberto dela Peña, Comelec Provincial Election Officer, said the two towns as potential hotspots will be included among his recommendations to the Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
A Provincial Joint Coordination Committee meeting is scheduled next week.
Dela Peña said that these communities are particularly active in the electoral process and noted numerous candidates vying for positions.
"We see a potential for heightened tension in these areas, as nobody wants to lose," Dela Peña said.
