ACEN, AllCard partner for 100% clean energy shift
Ayala-led renewable energy (RE) firm ACEN Corp. announced that it has partnered with AllCard Inc. to power the latter’s operations using 100-percent clean energy.
In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) on Friday, May 8, ACEN said its retail electricity arm, ACEN Renewable Energy Solutions (ACEN RES), inked a deal with the country’s leading provider of end-to-end card solutions under the Green Energy Option Program (GEOP).
Under the Renewable Energy Act of 2008, GEOP allows qualified end-users with a peak demand of at least 100 kilowatts (kW) to choose licensed RE suppliers.
Through the program, AllCard will source its electricity requirements from ACEN’s portfolio of solar, wind, and geothermal plants.
By shifting to a fully renewable power supply, AllCard is expected to avoid around 631 metric tons (MT) of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions annually, marking a milestone in the company’s efforts to integrate sustainability into its manufacturing operations.
According to Philippine Electricity Market Corp. (PEMC), ACEN RES currently leads the GEOP market segment with a 65-percent market share.
The partnership also reinforces ACEN’s role in supporting Philippine businesses pursuing Net Zero carbon emissions goals.
“At AllCard, we recognize that our growth must be synonymous with sustainability. Shifting to full RE through ACEN RES is a pivotal step in reducing our carbon footprint while ensuring that our production processes remain resilient and future-ready. We are happy to partner with ACEN RES to power our next decade of innovation with clean energy,” said Aaron dela Paz, AllCard chief experience and operations officer.
For its part, ACEN reiterated its commitment to supporting sustainability initiatives in the local industrial sector.
“We are happy to support AllCard’s transition toward a sustainable future. This partnership reflects the growing commitment of Philippine businesses to integrate sustainability into their core operations. By leveraging GEOP, we are enabling businesses like AllCard to make more deliberate energy choices that contribute to the country’s broader decarbonization goals,” said Tony Valdez, ACEN senior vice president and head of market transformation and retail.
ACEN is among the fastest-growing RE providers in Asia-Pacific, with investments in Australia, Vietnam, India, Laos, and Indonesia, among others.
To date, the company has more than seven gigawatts (GW) of attributable clean energy capacity that are operational, under construction, and committed.
