President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. personally led the rollout of “Bigas Para sa Masa” in the cities of Las Piñas, Parañaque, and Pasay on Wednesday, May 6, distributing rice and financial assistance to thousands of residents under the government’s Bagong Pilipinas campaign.
In Las Piñas, the President was joined by Mayor April Aguilar in handing out 10 kilos of rice each to around 2,500 residents at the Aguilar Sports Complex, part of the city’s target of 30,000 beneficiaries.
Mayor Aguilar thanked the President for the assistance extended to indigents, solo parents, and residents with unstable sources of income.
The “Bigas Para sa Masa” initiative also aims to support rice farmers from Nueva Ecija by helping strengthen the market for locally produced rice.
Aside from the rice distribution, Marcos also interacted with 60 presidential scholars and witnessed the distribution of Socio-Civic Projects Fund (SCPF) financial assistance for the city’s 20 barangays.
In Parañaque City, the rice distribution was held at the Barangay Don Bosco Gym along Doña Soledad Avenue.
Upon arrival, the President observed the orientation of 80 Bagong Pilipinas Barangay Scholars under the SCPF and witnessed the presentation of motorized stainless food carts that will be distributed to barangay captains together with Mayor Edwin Olivarez.
The program also included the rollout of rice assistance under the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) and the ceremonial turnover of P3.2 million in SCPF financial assistance for the city’s 16 barangays.
Meanwhile, in Pasay City, around 17,000 residents from vulnerable sectors received 10 kilos of rice each during a distribution program held at the Pasay City Astrodome.
During the event, Marcos engaged with barangay scholars, witnessed the launch of rice assistance program, and led the turnover of financial aid to barangays across the city.
The series of events highlighted the national government’s continuing efforts to strengthen social support programs, expand opportunities for communities, and ensure that assistance reaches vulnerable sectors under the Bagong Pilipinas vision.
