Jisoo designer dispute resolved after missing fashion pieces issue sparks online backlash
The dispute involving Belgian designer Benjamin Voortmans, known as Judassime, and the team of Jisoo has been resolved, with the designer confirming that his borrowed fashion pieces will be returned following direct coordination with the production teams.
Voortmans said he was contacted by the American team after publicly raising concerns, and arrangements were made to retrieve the items from Korea. He added that multiple designers involved in the same project were also affected and that steps were being taken to return all borrowed pieces.
The issue began when the designer alleged that three high-value pieces from his latest collection, lent for an album cover shoot, were not returned after around six months. He claimed that both the Korean and American teams involved in the production had repeatedly delayed responses regarding the return of the items.
Voortmans also said he had sent invoices and contracts and considered legal action due to the lack of communication. Frustrated by the situation, he posted an Instagram video urging the team to respond and asking viewers to help amplify his concern.
The post went viral while Jisoo was attending the Met Gala in New York, drawing widespread attention and sparking mixed reactions online, including backlash from some fans over the mention of her name.
He later clarified that his intent was not to target Jisoo personally, stressing that her name was used because the project was associated with her and communication channels referenced her team. He also apologized for any misunderstanding and said he does not support online hate directed at the singer.
Voortmans concluded that the matter has now been settled and expressed relief that the pieces will be returned, adding that the situation served as a learning experience for young designers working with large-scale productions.
