- In an interview with Manila Bulletin and other media outlets, new K-pop boy band Naze discussed their debut, album, goals and role models in the industry
Multinational K-pop boy band Naze has officially entered the music scene, debuting on May 4 under C9 Entertainment with their self-titled mini-album, “Naze.”
The group—composed of Kaisei, Younki, Ato, Turn, Yuya, Kimkun, and Dohyeok—draws members from South Korea, Japan, and Thailand. Their name, “Naze,” refers to a headland where land meets the ocean, symbolizing the group’s aim to bridge boundaries and move forward with limitless potential.
Prior to their debut, the group appeared in the Japanese TBS drama “Dream Stage,” which premiered in January.
Their debut release features four tracks: “Pretty Pink Socks,” which explores the excitement of a budding crush; “People Talk,” a pop-dance anthem about staying confident amid criticism; “Awesome,” an R&B-infused mid-tempo track centered on self-assurance; and “Seoul,” a tribute to the city the group now calls home.
Commercially, “Naze” made an immediate impact, debuting at No. 4 on the Hanteo Chart with 75,133 copies sold on its first day, before climbing to No. 2 on the daily physical album chart the following day.
In an interview with Manila Bulletin Entertainment and other media, the members reflected on their long-awaited debut, shared their aspirations, and named the artists who have influenced them.
For the group, debuting marks the realization of a shared dream.
Ato described the moment as both exciting and emotional, noting that while he feels some nerves, the opportunity to debut alongside his bandmates—despite their different backgrounds—makes the achievement more meaningful.
Turn echoed this sentiment, saying he has aspired to become a K-pop idol since childhood and now hopes to present their music to the public.
Dohyeok emphasized his desire to build on his experience in Japan and continue improving as an artist, while Younki admitted the anticipation has been overwhelming, even affecting his sleep, as he looks forward to showcasing what they have prepared.
Kimkun highlighted the significance of reaching a long-held goal and expressed eagerness to share not only their debut album but also future releases. Yuya, meanwhile, said performing on stage and meeting fans—both longtime supporters and new listeners—is what he looks forward to most.
Kaisei acknowledged the pressure that comes with debuting but said he is honored to do so as part of the seven-member group, adding that he hopes to connect with audiences both in Korea and internationally.
The members also cited several K-pop artists as their role models.
Ato pointed to RIIZE’s Sohee, whom he admires for his genuine enjoyment on stage. Four members named BTS as a major influence: Turn cited J-Hope for his artistry and work ethic; Dohyeok and Younki both highlighted Jungkook for his performance skills and evolving musicality; and Kaisei mentioned Jimin for his stage presence.
Kimkun named Zico, praising his continued influence across music and fashion, while Yuya chose Stray Kids’ Hyunjin for his distinctive aura and performance style.
Looking ahead, the group has set ambitious goals.
Dohyeok said their ultimate aim is global recognition, envisioning a future where their songs are heard worldwide. Ato shared a similar sentiment, saying it would be meaningful to hear their music playing unexpectedly in different countries.
Younki, for his part, expressed the group’s desire to perform on major international stages, naming festivals such as Coachella and Glastonbury as long-term aspirations.
As Naze begins its journey in the industry, the group is positioning itself as a rising act with global ambitions and a shared commitment to growth.
