Marcos joins Biazon, Fresnedi in Muntinlupa rice aid rollout
Mayor Ruffy Biazon thanked President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for visiting Muntinlupa City for the pilot distribution of rice and assistance to barangays.
Biazon and Muntinlupa Rep. Jaime Fresnedi welcomed the President at the Muntinlupa Sports Center where the ceremony was held.
In the pilot distribution under the Bigas Para sa Masa Program, Marcos distributed 10-kilo sacks of rice to 1,900 residents.
Through the implementation of the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) in the country, indigent and vulnerable residents of Muntinlupa will get rice every two months in every year.
“Today’s event is about delivering support where it matters most, to the grassroots and the vulnerable sector of our communities. Amidst inflation and the ongoing challenges brought about by our energy situation, this rice subsidy serves as a vital form of support. It is seen to help ease the daily burden of our families and ensures that food remains on their tables,” said Biazon.
In addition, the President distributed P1.8 million or P200,000 for each of the nine barangays in Muntinlupa under the Socio-Civic Projects Fund Financial Assistance program of the national government.
Half of the fund will be allotted for presidential scholars wherein five recipients in every barangay in Muntinlupa will be selected to receive P20,000 each for their studies.
Biazon said the educational assistance “will help students and their families continue their studies with greater confidence.”
“On behalf of the people of Muntinlupa, we express our heartfelt appreciation to President Marcos and the national government for this timely and impactful program. Initiatives like this demonstrate a strong commitment to addressing the real needs of our citizens, especially those who need it most,” he said.
Biazon said the city government is committed to doing its part to help the vulnerable sectors and work hand-in-hand to aim for long-term solutions for poverty alleviation and sustainable development.
