Marcos declares May 6 to 8 as special non-working days in Lapu-Lapu City, Cordova for ASEAN Summit

President Marcos has declared May 6 to 8 as special non-working days in Lapu-Lapu City and municipality of Cordova in Cebu to give way to the country's hosting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit.
Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro announced that the three-day holiday was declared through Proclamation No. 1238 signed by Executive Secretary Ralph Recto.
The declaration of holidays in Lapu-Lapu City and Cordova aims to reduce traffic in the surrounding areas, ensuring the safety of participants in the ASEAN Summit.
According to Castro, the National Organizing Council is now in the final phase of preparations for the country's hosting of the 48th ASEAN Summit and related meetings.
"All strategic, operational, logistical, technical, and security preparations ay kumpleto na po. At ang lahat ng systems are now undergoing final live testing and synchronization (All strategic, operational, logistical, technical, and security preparations are already complete. And all systems are now undergoing final live testing and synchronization)," Castro said in a Palace briefing on Tuesday, May 5.
"And the government of the Philippines, through the NOC and all participating agencies stand 100 percent, stands 100 percent ready to deliver a secure, seamless, and world-class ASEAN Summit," Castro added.
Meanwhile, Castro said the ASEAN Political Security Community, ASEAN Economic Community, and ASEAN Social Cultural Community are all expected to attend the summit, but final details on all participants will be confirmed on Wednesday.
