Lawyer files candidacy for BARMM Member of Parliament

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Lawyer Jay Hataman Salliman filed his Certificate of Candidacy for BARMM Member of Parliament on Tuesday, May 5, the first day of filing for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao elections in September.

Commission on Elections Provincial Election Supervisor Roberto dela Peña received the documents filed by Salliman at the Comelec Basilan office in Isabela City.

Salliman, running under the Bangsamoro Federalist Party, seeks to represent District 4 which covers Lantawan, Maluso, and Hadji Muhtamad.

Salliman ran for Basilan governor in the May 2025 polls but lost to Gov. Mujiv Hataman. His father, former Basilan Gov. Jim Hataman Salliman is Basilan vice governor.

Candidates in Basilan are expected to troop to the Comelec provincial office to file their COCs from May 5 to 7.
