ITZY's Yeji diagnosed with herniated disc, agency confirms
ITZY member Yeji has been diagnosed with a Herniated Disc, her agency confirmed.
In a statement released on May 5, JYP Entertainment said the singer sought medical attention after experiencing lower back pain. Following a comprehensive examination, Yeji was advised by a specialist to limit activities that could strain her back.
Despite the diagnosis, Yeji is expected to take part in the group’s upcoming Japan tour. However, her onstage performances will be adjusted to accommodate her condition, with certain movements expected to be restricted.
JYP Entertainment said Yeji’s participation in ITZY’s third world tour stops in Japan on May 9–10, 2026, will be limited due to her condition.
The agency noted that while some aspects of her stage performance will be restricted, Yeji remains determined to appear and meet fans. It also issued an apology to supporters who had anticipated her full performance, adding that the company will prioritize the artist’s treatment and recovery.
According to the Mayo Clinic, a Herniated Disc occurs when one of the rubbery disks that cushion the vertebrae in the spine develops a tear, allowing its soft inner material to protrude. The condition—sometimes referred to as a slipped or ruptured disk—most commonly affects the lower back.
Symptoms vary depending on the location of the affected disk but may include pain, numbness, or weakness in the limbs.
