Twenty-three stranded Filipinos have safely returned to the Philippines after the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai facilitated their repatriation, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said on Tuesday, May 5.
The DFA said the stranded Filipinos were repatriated on April 27 via a commercial flight operated by Emirates.
The group included a mix of non-overseas Filipino workers (non-OFWs) who had been staying with family members in Dubai, as well as individuals whose return flights were canceled due to ongoing flight suspensions by other airlines, according to the DFA.
Over 500 Filipinos repatriated since March
The DFA said the latest repatriation effort brings the total number of Filipinos assisted by the Consulate to 551 since March 2026.
The initiative was supported through the Assistance to Nationals (ATN) Fund of the DFA, which provides aid to distressed Filipinos abroad.
Consul General Ambrosio Brian F. Enciso III reaffirmed the Consulate’s commitment to protecting Filipino nationals in the United Arab Emirates.
“The Philippine Consulate General remains committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our kababayans in the UAE,” Enciso said. “Our lines and doors remain open to anyone needing repatriation assistance and welfare support,” he added.
