Vice President Sara Duterte (PPAB)
The House of Representatives referred the articles of impeachment against Vice President Sara Duterte to the Committee on Rules during plenary session on Tuesday night, May 5.
This, after Committee Report (CR) No. 261 from the House Committee on Justice chaired by Batangas 2nd district Rep. Gerville "Jinky Bitrics" Luistro was read on the floor.
CR No. 261 contained the four articles on alleged impeachable offenses committed by Duterte.
The action, facilitated by Deputy Speaker La Union 1st district Rep. Paolo Ortega V, paves the way for Luistro's sponsorship of the report during plenary session this Wednesday afternoon, May 6.
The 318-strong chamber will then be given copies of CR No. 261, which will then be debited by the members.
Duterte will be deemed impeached once again, if and when at least one-third (106) of the chamber votes to adopt the articles of impeachment. However, the solons aren't expected to put the matter to a vote until Monday, May 11.
The four articles of impeachment against Duterte are the following:
- Misuse and irregular liquidation of confidential funds totaling at least P500 million in the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and P112.5 million in the Department of Education (DepEd);
- Amassing unexplained wealth and failing to fully disclose assets in her statements of assets, liabilities, and net worth (SALN);
- Bribery and corruption involving officials under her authority; and
- Contracting or soliciting acts of violence, including alleged threats against top government officials.
Duterte was also impeached by the House of Representatives in 2025.
